Last week my cousin @leahpinkphotography and I headed down to Pembrokeshire on Friday, ready for a weekend of sea birds and birds of prey!
On the Saturday we went to the absolutely stunning Skomer Island, to photograph the thousands of puffins who breed there every year! We were so lucky with the weather, as the day before and day after it absolutely tipped it down and was incredibly windy. But thankfully we picked the perfect day and it was lovely and bright!
We spent hours watching the puffins flying in with mouths stuffed full with sand eels then running into their burrow!
And we also had great views of Fulmars, razorbills, guillemots (and even a guillemot chick!!).
And then, we drove up north to visit the Red Kite feeding centre Gigrin Farm!
Gigrin farm is the whole reason red kites aren’t extinct in the UK – after having only one breeding pair in the area, they started feeding them to give them a helping hand. And now nearly 30 years later, there are hundreds!
Hey! My name is Izzy Fry, I am a 17 year old aspiring wildlife conservationist living in Wiltshire. During my free time I am always outside looking for wildlife and volunteering my time to local charities and organisations, for example I am a young ambassador for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, working to engage new members, I take part in surveys and monitoring for the PTES, I am on the committee for my local Natural History Society and I also take part in the BTO bird ringing scheme!
I am currently at school studying Environmental Science, Geography and Biology for A Levels and my plans for after school are to take a gap year and travel the globe to gain new experience and knowledge working in different places before coming back to study wildlife conservation and ecology at uni.
I also love to share my photos and experiences on my social media pages and blogs to inspire and encourage a love for nature and wildlife in more people, especially young people!
