Nature writing

I have always had an interest in writing, but especially about nature and wildlife! I absolutely love to write blogs and articles, and have had a few published in various places!

Plantlife: Before lockdown, I had the most amazing opportunity to work alongside the editor of the Plantlife magazine, Jane Gazzard – as soon as lockdown is over, I hope to be back! I was going into the Plantlife offices every week, working on my own features (some which will be published in the next few issues!). I have learnt so much, especially about writing techniques – how to be fun but factual and so much more!

PTES : I wrote this article for the People’s Trust for Endangered Species on the water vole surveys they hold, and what to look out for!

I also featured in the PTES magazine talking about what I do for wildlife!

NG Kids Magazine : When I was 10 years old, I submitted an article about my visit to Elmley Nature Reserve alongside some of my photos! A couple of weeks later it was featured in the NG Kids Magazine! This was my first article, and beginning of my nature writing!

A Focus On Nature: A Focus On Nature is a wonderful organisation, connecting and supporting young conservationists. I was very excited to have the opportunity to write a few blogs for them!

The first was activities and ways to stay connected to nature during quarantine. I had a lot of fun thinking of new creative ideas to get involved with nature!

The second was about nature and wellbeing and why we need nature!

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust : I am a the young ambassador for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and have been writing blogs for their website!

Dorset Mind Your Health : I wrote this blog post for DMYH all about nature and it’s benefits for well-being!

Going Digital Newsletter : Going Digital organises brilliant photography courses – I have been on a bird of prey workshop – and learnt so much more about settings and how to use a camera! I wrote a little article that was featured in the South West Going Digital newsletter – sent out to over 3,000 people along side some of my photos!

Conker nature magazine: I was very excited to write this little piece for the first issue of Conker Nature magazine!

Blashford Lakes Blog : I am part of the Young Naturalists group held at Blashford Lakes. During lockdown, I became so much more connected with my local wildlife and loved writing this blog about nature on my doorstep!

Seedball website : checkout my blog for the seedball website – all about why wildflowers are important for birds!

Tisbury Neighbourhood Response Newsletter : I was asked to write about nature and wildlife for a Covid-19 Volunteer Newsletter to spread positivity during this hard time! Alongside some of my photos, I wrote about Spring and how the natural world still continues despite the Coronavirus!

Creature Candy : I wrote this blog on bird ringing, why it matters and what it involves!

Tisbury Focus : I am very excited to have my own little space in my local newspaper! Every month I write a new issue on what wildlife is up to that month, some of my weird and wonderful nature finds and more! I also had one of my photos as the front cover of the July 2020 issue!

The nature bug club: I was very excited to have my guest blog posted on the nature bug club website! It’s all about how lockdown affected wildlife!

Wildlife Kate website: I wrote a little piece for Kate McRae’s ‘lockdown garden Birdwatch champ’ section all about me and my garden birds during lockdown!

Cameron Bespolka Trust: My blog for the Cameron Bespolka Trust was all about nature and well-being!

Snippets magazine : I wrote this article on the work I do and my photography!

I had a lovely talk with A little bird company about what I get up to and the bird ringing and volunteering I do! Read more here:

I am currently working with a couple organisations on some new features and articles that will be published in the upcoming months!
