Peocock butterfly caterpillar

I found this beautiful Peacock butterfly caterpillar yesterday!

These long caterpillars hatch within 2 weeks, spin a silk web and feed gregariously on young nettle leaves.

Peocock butterflies lay their eggs in May, they will then hatch into caterpillars in June and make a chrysalis is late June to July before emerging as a butterfly shortly after!
