Ringing at Martin Down

A few days ago I went bird ringing again at Martin Down Nature Reserve in Hampshire! We caught and rang so many different birds – 58 in total!

Female Linnet
Grasshoppers and crickets everywhere!

My favourite was the male Bullfinch! I have always wanted to ring one and their colours are stunning!

We rang lots of juvenile birds! Including 4 Lesser Whitethroats just out of the nest, a Blackbird, Wrens, lots of Dunnocks and a couple of Blackcaps!

I also rang my first bird! A Dunnock and 4 more after!

It was a lovely day and I learnt so much! Here is the total!

Dunnock 13

Lesser whitethroat 5

Blackbird 2

Blackcap 3

Wren 5

Great tit 4

Bullfinch 3

Linnet 2

Robin 4

It was a great day and I learnt so much!
