Last year my family got a beehive full of 15,000 honeybees! I absolutely love the moments when I can photograph them in the hive, it is so interesting!

I used a Tamron 70-300mm tele-macro lens to get these shots!



An average worker bee makes only about 1/12 teaspoon of honey in its lifetime. Last year the bees did make some, but only for them, none that we could take! We got them a little to late in the year but a couple of weeks ago, we collected another swarm – so hopefully we’ll get some honey this year!
We reckon there was around 8,000 honeybees in the swarm we collected! Here is a picture below!

One day last Summer, I was walking around my garden looking for butterflies on the flowers when I noticed about 20 bees drinking from the bird bath! I love these pictures as it shows a side of them that not many people see!
